Christmas Diet Help

Stick to that diet and you'll soon have something to celebrate...

The Christmas and new year bingeing season is on us once again. Opportunities to overeat and drink too much abound and the temptation is to reach for another mince pie or choccie... "Oh well, it is Christmas..."

It seems easiest to put off the diet untill the new year. After all who wants to starve over the party season when everyone else is eating and drinking as much as they like?

It's tempting to join in and leave the weight loss untill January but you don't need to. You can still party but not put on the pounds if you follow our Christmas diet tips:

Top Christmas Party Tips

Quality beats quantity every time - Champers and smoked salmon not lager and a kebab!

Water is a drink too - You can still party but save calories (and your liver) by alternating water or a low calorie soft drink with your usual tipple.

Eating out - Say you're on a diet and ask for a child's portion, order one meal between two or ask for a doggy bag.

Dance the night away - It's Christmas and dancing is great exercise not to mention great fun!

Drink water before your meal - it'll fill you up and it's zero calories and it'll help you avoid a hanger.

Leave it - You're a grown-up and you don't have to eat everything on your plate.

Wait for it - Don't decide on a dessert untill at least 20 minutes after the main course.

More Diet Tips

Remember that eating and drinking too much at Christmas is entirely optional. If you're serious about losing weight in the new year, you can get a head start by not over-indulging in December. Just think how much better you'll feel in January if you haven't stuffed yourself!

Think smaller portions, learn to say no to 'extras' when you're buying a coffee or lunch and be sensible about alcohol and take-aways and you'll soon see a big difference in the mirror!

Put your fork down between bites - it'll make you eat more slowly and you'll feel fuller on less food.

Christmas and Dieting

The Christmas party season is upon us. Time to remember that if you're serious about losing weight, you may want to consider taking the partying a little easier this winter.

Remember you don't have to eat and drink for all you're worth during December.

Excess isn't compulsory so bear in mind that the less you over-indulge in December, the easier it will be to reach your ideal weight in 2010.

Finally, here's my favourite Christmas diet tip:

Go for quality rather than quantity - Think smoked salmon and an icy cold glass of Chablis or Champers rather than roast potatoes and lager!

Enjoy!
