Atkins diet
Jennifer Aniston, Renée Zellweger
and Robbie Williams are reported to be followers
of this popular diet. Founder Dr.Atkins believed that it was too
much insulin that caused the body to store fat. So reducing carbohydrate
intake helps to regulate insulin, meaning less fat storage and a
lowering of food cravings. Without carbohydrates the body will start
to burn fat stores as a form of energy.
This four stage low carbohydrate diet has proved very successful,
but drew criticism from health experts due to the lack of fruit
and vegetables in the eating plan.

Baby Food Diet

Lady GaGa, Marcia Cross and Reese
Witherspoon are reportedly fans of the new diet craze of
eating tiny little pots of sieved baby food to help lose weight.
Jennifer Aniston is reported to have lost 7lbs
in one week whilst following the baby-food diet. This cleansing
eating plan was supposedly evolved by celebrity trainer,Tracy
Anderson. She apparently suggests that eating nutritious
baby food portions can help the body cleanse and detox .
The theory is that this food is very easily digested and subsequently
leads to fast weight-loss. Followers believe this 'clean food' helps
to eliminate toxicity and break bad eating habits.
Generally, baby food contains less or no additives and preservatives
and are lower in sodium than regular processed foods. The ingredients
are generally high quality and are often organic. A disadvantage
though is the lack of fibre in the baby food, so chewing is absent
when eating pureed food. Chewing actually helps your body recognise
you are eating and can bring a sense of fullness. Without chewing
the dieter is likely to eat more.
The baby food diet involves eating up to 14 little pots of puree
followed by a normal dinner of lean meat and vegetables. This is
only a temporary diet plan aimed to work in the short term and not
to be followed for a long period. It is therefore not likely to
address the underlying problems in your eating habits that caused
you to put on weight.
Press have since reported that Aniston denies using
the cleansing baby food diet to lose weight.
Bodyism Clean and Lean plan
This popular diet plan has the backing of several celebrities,
such as top models Elle Macpherson and
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and actor Hugh Grant.
The cookery writer Nigella Lawson has
also been reported as having achieved amazing weight-loss results
with the Clean and Lean plan.
Devised by personal trainer and nutritional advisor, James Duigan,
for his celebrity clients, the holistic plan aims to de-stress the
body, flatten the stomach and keep the body well-nourished and slim.
He believes that the body does not naturally hold onto fat. Instead,
he is reported as viewing processed foods and drinks and excess
sugar as polluting the body, and causing fat to cling to specific
body parts, such as the hips, thighs, tummy and bum.
An important part of the Clean and Lean plan are powerful health
supplements, which contain vitamins, minerals and fish oils that
are supposed to help to burn fat and fight food cravings. Followers
start the day with a Body Brilliance shake - this is described as
a phyto-antioxidant blend of 'super greens', fruit and vegetable
concentrates, herbal adaptogens and probiotics.
The suggested healthy meals are high in protein and fresh orgainic
vegetables and fruit : lean meat like skinless chicken and turkey,
fresh fish, berries, greens, sweet potatoes, avocados, nuts.
Chewing each mouthful of food at least 20- 30 times is also recommended,
along with drinking plenty of still water.
No to salty processed food, sweets, refined sugary snacks, alcohol,
caffeine (although 1-2 organic coffees a day are allowed)
